SA Recycling, a leader in metals recycling, is seeking a dependable Weighmaster to operate scales for inbound and outbound trucks and manage documentation. You will direct drivers, process payments, and assist customers with pricing while maintaining accurate records.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years’ scale experience, and strong communication skills. Expect a role outdoors in varying weather with standard daytime hours and growth opportunities within the company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience operating truck scales, preferably in scrap metal, quarry, or transfer station.
• Ability to develop cooperative relationships with customers and employees.
• Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills (verbal & written).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organization and math skills; basic negotiation ability.

Responsibilities

• Operate scale to weigh inbound and outbound trucks.
• Review, inspect, and document inbound loads.
• Direct drivers to the proper yard location for loading/unloading.
• Complete documentation for vehicles and loads entering/leaving the yard.
• Test scales for accuracy and report malfunctions to the GM.
• Process payments and keep transaction records.
• Assist customers with pricing questions and materials accepted; maintain account contacts.
• Perform general office duties.

Job description

SA Recycling, a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively seeking a hard-working, dependable and safety minded individual to join our team as a Weighmaster. As a Weighmaster you will be responsible for the operating in-bound and out-bound scales; directing drivers to the appropriate areas for unloading; facilitating payment for in-bound material; and completing all required documentation. The Weighmaster will also perform basic office tasks.

This position will work inside and outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Working hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 am to noon on Saturdays.

Responsibilities of a Weighmaster

• Operate scale to effectively weigh all inbound and outbound trucks.
• Review, inspect, and document inbound loads.
• Direct drivers to the proper yard location for loading/unloading.
• Complete all required documentation for vehicles and loads entering or leaving the yard.
• Participate in the testing of scales for accuracy and report any malfunctions or concerns to the General Manager.
• Process payments and keep accurate records of all transactions.
• Assist customers with questions on pricing and types of materials accepted and maintain account contacts to promote continued business.
• Preform general office duties.

Qualifications of a Weighmaster

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience operating truck scales, preferably in a scrap metal, quarry, or transfer station or similar industry.
• Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with customers and employees.
• Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, good organizational and mathematical skills, basic negotiation skills, and the ability to multi-task.
• Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn industry specific software.
• Bilingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
