Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking a highly organized Weighmaster to operate inbound and outbound truck scales and direct drivers to unloading areas. The role includes handling payments for materials and completing all necessary documentation while performing light office tasks.

This position works indoors and outdoors in varying weather, adhering to health and safety standards. A high school diploma and scale experience are required; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience operating truck scales, preferably in scrap/metals or similar.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate scale to weigh inbound and outbound trucks.
• Review, inspect, and document inbound loads.
• Direct drivers to proper yard location for loading/unloading.
• Complete all required documentation for vehicles and loads.
• Participate in the testing of scales for accuracy and report malfunctions.
• Process payments and keep accurate records of all transactions.
• Assist customers with questions on pricing and materials accepted; maintain contacts.
• Perform general office duties.

Job description

SA Recycling, an industry leader in the metals recycling and processing industry is looking for a highly organized individual to join our team as a Weighmaster. As a Weighmaster you will be responsible for operating in-bound and out-bound truck scales; directing drivers to the appropriate areas for unloading; facilitating payment for in-bound material; and completing all required documentation. The Weighmaster will also perform basic office tasks.

This position will work inside and outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Hours for this position are from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays during summer months, or as needed.

Responsibilities of a Weighmaster

• Operate scale to effectively weigh all inbound and outbound trucks.
• Review, inspect, and document inbound loads.
• Direct drivers to the proper yard location for loading/unloading.
• Complete all required documentation for vehicles and loads entering or leaving the yard.
• Participate in the testing of scales for accuracy and report any malfunctions or concerns to the General Manager.
• Process payments and keep accurate records of all transactions.
• Assist customers with questions on pricing and types of materials accepted and maintain account contacts to promote continued business.
• Preform general office duties.

Qualifications of a Weighmaster

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience operating truck scales, preferably in a scrap metal, mining, agricultural or similar industry.
• Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with customers and employees.
• Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, good organizational and mathematical skills, basic negotiation skills, and the ability to multi-task.
• Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn industry specific software.
• Bilingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
