Job summary

FAO Representation in Libya is seeking a WEFE Nexus and Capacity Development Specialist to support the integration of environmental and energy considerations into climate-smart agriculture projects. The role involves coordinating with the project team, preparing technical inputs, and advancing capacity-building activities across government institutions.

The incumbent will work under the supervision of FAO leadership, contribute to GCF concept notes, and ensure alignment with WEFE strategies,

Qualifications

Advanced university degree in climate science (master minimum), environmental sciences, agricultural climatology, natural resource management, or related field.
At least 7 years’ experience in climate change adaptation with focus on agriculture, water resources, or food systems.
Working knowledge of English and Arabic.
National of Libya or resident with regular work permit.

Responsibilities

Provide technical and operational support for organization and coordination of meetings, interviews, and consultations with stakeholders related to environment and energy sectors.
Review relevant studies, policies, and information to support WEFE Nexus concept note development.
Contribute to GCF concept note and pre-feasibility study with attention to environment and energy considerations.
Support collection, compilation, analysis, and validation of technical data for project activities.
Assist with planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project activities and capacity-development efforts.
