Job summary

Senior Helpers Northern Orange County is seeking weekend caregivers to provide non-medical in-home care for clients. The role focuses on safe transfers, personal care, dementia-friendly support, and companionship in the client’s home environment.

Caregivers will assist with mobility, bathing, grooming, meal prep, and daily activities, while reporting client status and ensuring comfort. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required, with flexible scheduling to fit weekend

Qualifications

• Experience with transferring clients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
• Experience with gate belt assistance.
• Experience with assisting clients with personal care tasks including bathing, grooming, and hygiene.
• Experience with incontinence and bed-bound care; willingness to learn about dementia/alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

• Engage clients with fun, meaningful conversations to build rapport.
• Support clients in daily activities such as walking, dressing, and mobility.
• Prepare meals and assist with eating as needed.
• Communicate updates about clients’ physical and mental state to the team.
• Assist with daily routines while ensuring client safety and comfort.

Senior Helpers Northern Orange County is looking for experienced WEEKEND Caregivers ONLY.

Caregiver Qualifications

• Experience with transferring clients between various locations (wheelchair, bed, etc.) utilizing proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
• Experience with using a gate belt assistance.
• Experience with assisting clients with personal hygiene tasks including sponge baths, bathing, toileting, grooming, etc.
• Experience with assisting clients with incontinence care and bed-ridden care.
• Willing to attend training regarding Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
• 1 year of experience preferred, but not required.
• reliable transportation
• Driver's license & auto insurance

What does a day in the life of a caregiver look like?

• Have fun and engaging conversations with your clients to build relationships.
• Participate in your clients’ favorite hobbies (walking, gardening, games, etc.)
• Prep meals for your clients to enjoy.
• Assist your clients with walking, dressing, and other daily activities of living.
• Report what activities were completed with your clients and provide updates on your clients’ physical condition, mental capacity, and behavior.
