Job Description

Posted Friday, May 9, 2025 at 10:00 AM | Expires Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 9:59 AM

Multnomah Athletic Club is more than Portland’s most legendary hub of sports and socializing. It’s like a small city unto itself. Where else can you find four restaurants, three pools, a climbing gym, state-of-the-art studios and fitness suite, a complex of racquet sport courts, massage offerings, a boutique, plus a grand ballroom and variety of events spaces all in one place? To say that every employee of MAC has room to move is an understatement almost as big as MAC’s 600,000 square feet of recreational possibilities.

Want a career with a future? A campus worth exploring? A one-of-a-kind community on which you can have a direct impact? MAC is all of those things and more.

The Role

Are you passionate about fostering creativity, learning, and fun in young children (ages 6 weeks – 6 years old)? We're seeking a vibrant Youth Programs Attendant to join our team and to be a part of something truly special at MAC. If you thrive in a dynamic environment where every day brings new opportunities to make a difference, we want to hear from you!

This position is full-time, fully on-site role at our club in Portland, OR. Must be available for a minimum requirement of Saturdays and Sundays with a shift time of 7:45am-1:45pm with the potential to gain more hours depending on availability outside of the shift times listed above.

What You’ll Do

  • Positive Interaction: Greet parents, children, and guests with a friendly and upbeat attitude. Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, staff, and children.
  • Child Care: Help children transition into care, managing separations in a calm and comforting manner. Attend to children’s toileting, diapering, and hygiene needs as required.
  • Activity Facilitation: Lead and engage children in a variety of fun and educational activities, including games, art projects, storytelling, and imaginary play. Monitor individual and group play, ensuring safety and enjoyment.
  • Behavior Management: Maintain positive behavior among children by redirecting misbehavior or moving children to a safe, quiet area if necessary.
  • Record Keeping: Update children’s records as needed and ensure that all information is accurately maintained.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with other staff members and communicate effectively with parents and children to create a supportive environment for all.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

  • Child Care Experience: Previous experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting preferred.
  • Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect training (or obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Competence, sound judgment, and self-control in working with children and parents. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and members.
  • Additional Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, ability to perform essential job functions including frequent lifting, carrying, standing, walking, sitting, lift and carry children weighing up to 60 lbs., ability to set up, clean, and put away furnishings and equipment which include play structures and large bouncy houses, ability to work in areas exposed to loud noises on a routine basis, ability to work occasional evening and weekend events.

What You'll Gain

At Multnomah Athletic Club, we believe in taking care of our team members. We offer a wide range of benefits to ensure your well-being, both inside and outside the club. Here's what's in it for you:

  • Full-time employees: Enjoy medical, dental, and vision insurance.
