Job description

Job Summary: Responsible for overseeing and monitoring all activities, duties, and responsibilities of the Residential Advisors on assigned shift, ensuring compliance with the Policy Requirements Handbook (PRH) for the Residential Department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supervises residential programs and ensures student needs are met promptly and professionally.
  • Demonstrates and adheres to the Company Core Values and operating principles.
  • Plans for the Social Development Department’s needs and manages residential living activities to meet student needs.
  • Conducts staff meetings and training sessions regularly.
  • Provides activity reports to Center Management, including the Social Development Director, Deputy Center Director, Center Director, and weekend Duty Officer.
  • Maintains orderly, clean dormitories while promoting self-discipline and awareness of others through modeling, mentoring, and monitoring staff and student behavior according to Career Success Standards.
  • Oversees social skills and student leadership sessions, providing guidance as needed.
  • Assists students with special problems and conducts dormitory meetings, collaborating with other departments to address student issues promptly.
  • Audits student Residential files and staff shift reports regularly, providing feedback for compliance.
  • Attends required staff training sessions.
  • Provides prompt and appropriate assistance to students experiencing injury, illness, emotional trauma, arrest, or other traumatic events.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with equal employment and affirmative action goals.
  • Participates in staff interviews and selections.
  • Prepares and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency and two years’ experience working with youth and young adults.

Preferred: Same as minimum plus previous Job Corps experience.

Knowledge: Effective communication and relationship skills with disadvantaged youths. Ability to obtain a State driver’s license. CPR/First Aid & AED certification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to motivate staff and model professional conduct consistently.

Physical Requirements:

Frequently: Sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking.

Occasionally: Standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, flexibility, pushing/pulling, kneeling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, running, driving.

Environmental Demands:

Operate office equipment. Occasionally work alone. Spend approximately 85% of time interacting with team and other departments. Read and write at college level.
