Job summary

Covenant House New Orleans is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist for a part-time weekend morning shift (7 AM–1 PM), with potential additional weekday availability. The YES builds trusting relationships with youth, supports life skills, and helps access housing, education, employment, healthcare, and mental health services.

The role collaborates with case managers and staff to promote stability, resilience, and independence in a safe, trauma-informed environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• At least 1 year of experience with youth or related field.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends/evenings.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with youth using trauma-informed approaches.
• Support case managers and assist youth with housing, education, employment, and health services.
• Coordinate internal and community resources and life-skills coaching.
• Respond to crises with de-escalation and safety planning; document interventions.
• Maintain accurate case notes in HMIS/ETO and support team collaboration.
