Job summary

Johnson Controls in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Fitter Welder Apprentice to gain hands-on experience in fit up, fabrication and welding under expert supervision. You'll work weekends (Fri–Sun) 5:00 am to 5:30 pm and earn $21.50 per hour with a shift premium, in a manufacturing environment focused on safety and continuous improvement.

You’ll apply MIG welding, read blueprints, and operate equipment like the Miller Aluma Pro.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months MIG welding experience.
• Must pass 2G plate and 6G short-arc pipe welding tests within Johnson Controls – San Antonio.
• Read and interpret production drawings, blueprints and specifications.
• High School Diploma or GED or certifications required.
• Follow ODS and Training Documents; adhere to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform fit-up, fabrication and core welding to vendors and managers.
• Operate welding equipment including GMAW and flame-cutting processes safely.
• Maintain accurate reports and documentation and ensure quality.
• Assist in training trainees and promote 5S and Kaizen within the facility.
