Job summary

Fortress Nutrition is seeking a Weekend Shift Operations Lead to guide our Beverage Canning team on the floor, while actively operating equipment. This working leadership role requires hands-on oversight to keep lines running safely and producing quality can products.

You'll lead a three‑day weekend schedule (Fri–Sun, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM), with 40 hours paid across 36 worked, and opportunities to train during weekdays. The role rewards initiative, quick decision‑making, and accountability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of leadership, lead, or supervisory experience in a production environment.
• 3+ years of machine operating experience (high-speed packaging preferred).
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Strong knowledge of high-speed production line equipment and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead and support line operators in canning line equipment operation.
• Act as a working lead, actively operating equipment while supervising the team.
• Assign and coordinate daily responsibilities in the absence of management.
• Monitor production performance, safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Ensure GMPs, food safety, and sanitation standards are followed.
• Perform quality checks during runs.

Fortress Nutrition is growing-and we're looking for a strong, hands‑on Weekend Shift Operations Lead to support and guide our Beverage Canning operations. This is a working leadership role, where you will lead the team on the floor while actively operating equipment and ensuring production runs efficiently, safely, and meets quality standards.

Schedule: Weekend Shift

• Friday – Sunday: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• 3‑day work week (36 hours worked, paid for 40 hours minimum)
• Training will need to occur during the week, but there is flexibility for you to determine what training hours work best for your schedule

What You’ll Do

• Lead and support line operators in all production activities, including setup and operation of canning line equipment (filler, seamer, packaging, tanks, pumps, etc.)
• Act as a working lead‑actively operating equipment while overseeing team performance
• Assign and coordinate daily responsibilities based on production needs in the absence of management
• Monitor production performance, safety, quality, and efficiency metrics
• Ensure all GMPs, food safety, and sanitation standards are followed at all times
• Perform and verify quality checks throughout production runs
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, escalating to Maintenance when needed
• Communicate production issues, staffing concerns, and performance updates to leadership
• Complete and oversee production documentation, shift reports, and line paperwork
• Lead shift handoff communication, ensuring continuity between teams
• Support training, coaching, and development of operators
• Work cross‑functionally with Quality, Warehouse, Maintenance, and Operations teams
• Maintain a strong sense of urgency to address issues quickly and keep production running
• Perform all other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3+ years of machine operating experience (high‑speed packaging preferred)
• 3+ years of leadership, lead, or supervisory experience in a production environment
• Strong knowledge of high‑speed production line equipment and troubleshooting
• Strong decision‑making skills and ability to lead independently without direct supervision
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
• Must be reliable, accountable, and able to lead by example
• Strong communication and team leadership skills
• Proven experience coaching, developing, and managing employee performance

Must operate with a high sense of urgency and ownership. This role requires constant awareness of production flow, immediate response to equipment issues, and proactive leadership to prevent downtime. Individuals who are not engaged, responsive, and able to lead in a fast‑paced environment will not be successful in this role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in food, beverage, bottling, or canning manufacturing
• Knowledge of GMPs, food safety, and quality standards
• Experience leading cross‑functional teams in high‑volume production environments

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift)
• Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50lbs
• Bending, kneeling, climbing (stairs/platforms), and operating machinery
• Talking, hearing, reaching above shoulders; using hands to finger, handle, grasp, pinch or touch objects, controls, tools or equipment

Pay & Benefits

• Starting Pay: $27.00+ (with higher rates offered based on experience and leadership background)
• Weekend Shift Premium + $1.00
• Paid for 40 hours per week, while working only 36 hours
