Job summary

Good Shepherd Community Care is seeking a Weekend RN to join its on-call hospice team. You will travel to patients' homes and residential facilities in Greater Boston and parts of MetroWest, delivering end-of-life care and coordinating with an interdisciplinary team.

The role requires MA RN or LPN licensure, with 2 years of nursing experience and at least 1 year in hospice. Schedule is Fri–Sun, 9am–9pm (36 hours/week); salary reflects 40 hours and includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Named by the Boston Globe as one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts for the last three years, our community-based, mission-driven hospice and palliative care organization seeks a Weekend Nurse to join its expanding On-Call team. Travel to provide care in patients' private homes and residential facilities throughout Greater Boston and parts of MetroWest. The ideal candidate is well-organized and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced environment. Salary is based on 40 hours. This position is eligible for a $5000 sign-on Bonus.

Job Responsibilities

The Weekend Nurse is an integral part of an interdisciplinary hospice team responsible for caring for patients at the end of life. Makes home and hospital visits, provides information sessions, evaluates new patients, facilitates admissions to hospice services, and coordinates care planning. Employs triage and assessment skills to titrate medications and manage symptoms appropriately and provides education to patients and families about terminal diseases and end-of-life processes. Communicates with an interdisciplinary hospice team about changes in patients' needs and outcomes of interventions.

Schedule And Weekly Hours

• Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 9 am to 9 pm (36 hours/week).

Education, Skills And Experience

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Bachelors preferred
• 2 years of nursing experience and at least 1 year of hospice or equivalent nursing experience
• Sensitivity to and knowledge about end-of-life issues
• Comfortable working with socioculturally diverse patients/families
• Demonstrates ability to manage pain and control symptoms
• Demonstrates flexibility and multitasking abilities

Pay Range

$84,000 - $104,000: Baylor position (36-hour paid for 40). $5000 Sign-on Bonus. This number reflects an average starting range for this position. Individual pay is determined through a variety of factors, including experience, education, certifications, and skills and can exceed the range. $5000 Sing-on Bonus.
