Job summary

River Place Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking an Registered Nurse for a Weekender opportunity in LaPlace, LA. The role offers 12-hour day and night weekend shifts, every other weekend, with Saturday and Sunday plus an additional weekday.

Rates go up to $42 per hour with various shift differentials. River Place Behavioral Health Hospital is part of the Ochsner Health System family, providing psychiatric care at a convenient LaPlace location, just outside New Orleans.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess a current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment
• One year of nursing experience; psychiatric/mental health experience a plus
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
• Provide nursing care within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined by state regulations and facility procedures.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are legible and transcribed properly.
• Monitor patient status and document pertinent information.
• Notify physicians of significant changes in status or emergencies.
• Complete admission and discharge processing accurately.
• Maintain therapeutic rapport with patients and professional boundaries.
• Coordinate unit activities as directed.
• Communicate therapeutically with patients, visitors, and staff.
