Job summary

National Capital Treatment & Recovery, formerly Phoenix House, is a nonprofit behavioral health organization in Arlington, VA. We are seeking a dedicated Residential Specialist for the Independence House adult residential program to support recovery and supervise patient milieu in a medically monitored setting.

This part-time shift runs Saturdays and Sundays 7pm–7am (every other weekend). Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, CSAC credentials within 6 months, and at least 3 years of

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification as a substance abuse counselor (CSAC-A, CAC, CSAC) required within 6 months of employment.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor therapeutic milieu and patient activities.
• Conduct random and regular walk-throughs of the program.
• Respond to patient crises and emergencies as needed.
• Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect for patients in all interactions.
• Maintain objectivity toward all patients and make decisions based on accurate information.
• Transport patients to outside activities, night AA meetings, and appointments as needed.
• Document behavioral changes and any issues in Welligent and shift logs.
• Meet monthly with supervisor for supervision.
• Attend morning shift report and staff meetings for patient milieu updates.
• Administer medications and conduct medication pass as trained.
• Carry out additional responsibilities to ensure effective functioning of the program.

Education
