Qualifications

• AA degree REQUIRED with at least 1 year experience with at-risk children / mental health experience
• Must be able to effectively use crisis intervention techniques.
• Valid Florida driver's license in good standing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Basic computer knowledge
• Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Implements cottage activities of daily living including wake up/bedtime, meals, and maintains a clean, safe environment.
• Maintains clients' personal hygiene, grooming, and adheres to infection control procedures.
• Sets limits with clients appropriate to the situation.
• Escorts clients to activities or appointments on or off campus.
• Observes clients according to guidelines and manages safety concerns.
• Coaches recreational activities to model participation.
• Models professional behavior in all interactions.
• Intervenes with physically aggressive clients per guidelines.
• Completes crisis documentation online as needed for safety.
• Ensures client files, logs and summaries are accurate and timely.
• Maintains respectful relations with clients, parents, peers, and the public.
• Keeps records of community service hours for clients.
• Ensures services meet departmental guidelines and understands disaster/safety plans.
• Administers medications accurately and timely.
• Demonstrates awareness of cultural and socioeconomic client characteristics.
• Maintains unit cleanliness and interacts professionally in person and by phone.
