Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Full-Time Lab Technician/Phlebotomist at Wilkes Medical Center - Lab in Wilkes County. The role focuses on collecting and processing patient blood samples, preparing specimens, and supporting patient care areas via phone and documentation.

The candidate will perform routine tests, maintain equipment, and uphold safety and infection control standards. Requires a High School Diploma and phlebotomy certification where applicable; weekend schedule Fri-Sun is typical.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification in phlebotomy preferred for facilities where phlebotomy is an assigned duty.

Responsibilities

• Collects and/or processes patient blood obtained by venipuncture and/or capillary puncture timely and accurate.
• Performs phlebotomy through venous and capillary puncture following established procedures.
• Maintains equipment, keeps area clean, stocks supplies and keeps workspace organized.
• Reports varying in-house test results and abnormal findings to clinical staff.
• Follows safety procedures and uses PPE appropriately.
