Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill seeks a Nursing Assistant I (Per Diem) for the 7 Bedtower unit. This role supports direct and indirect patient care under supervision, with day and night rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. Orientation occurs every two weeks, and schedules may shift with dept needs.

The candidate should have NC Nursing Assistant I licensure, BLS, and ideally six months of experience. Fluency in English and basic computer skills are required to document care and coordinate

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English language.
• Basic computer skills expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procure equipment and supplies during emergencies.
• Aids patients in reality orientation and participates in behavior modification plans where applicable.
• Observe, document, and report changes in patient condition to the nurse or physician.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care and treatments per plan of care, including vital signs, measurements, wound care, glucose checks, and ROM exercises.
• Provide direct personal care for activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation assistance.
• Perform indirect care tasks: transport, linen changes, restocking supplies, clerical duties.
• Reinforce patient education and distribute materials as requested.
