Job summary

Banner Health in Tucson, AZ is seeking an ASCP Certified Pathologist Assistant with a minimum of 2 years of experience for a weekend position. The PA will assist Attending Pathologists with grossing surgical specimens including Breast, Uterus, Colon, amputations, and simple biopsies, and prepare specimen bags for histology processing.

Qualifications

Requires B.S. degree or higher with minimum science credits met as required by College of American Pathologists (CAP).
Completion of a National Accrediting Agency Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) approved Pathologists' Assistant program.

Responsibilities

Assists in preparation, grossing, and dissection of surgical specimens from routine to complex cases.
Provides education to Pathology Residents, Fellows and medical students on gross examination and dissection.
Assists with frozen sections and intra-operative consultations as needed.
Assists in preparing tissue for renal biopsy evaluation and downstream diagnosis by pathologists.
Supports tumor banking or other research specimen projects as requested.
Offers feedback and maintains instrument care, specimen photography, and compliance with CAP guidelines.
