UT Health Tyler is seeking a weekend shift, part-time Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our Tyler, TX laboratory. The role performs routine diagnostic testing and supports patient care with accurate results and timely reporting.

Candidates should hold a Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technician Studies or a chemical, physical, or biological science.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician Studies or a chemical, physical or biological science.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
• ASCP or equivalent preferred; certification in a specific area qualifies such as M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP).

Responsibilities

• The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) performs clinical laboratory testing pertaining to patient care and diagnosis.
• Performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement tasks, training and proficiency testing as assigned.
