Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the evening shift (12 PM–8:30 PM) with some weekend coverage. The role requires an Associate's Degree in Medical Technology and an MLT certification (ASCP or equivalent) upon hire, with no experience necessary.

The position involves performing routine and designated tests, maintaining quality control, operating LIS systems, and contributing to safety and record-keeping in a busy clinical lab.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's Degree in Medical Technology from an AMA approved school.
• Experience: No experience necessary.
• Licenses and Certifications: (MLT) MEDICAL LAB TECHNICIAN certification required (ASCP or equivalent) Upon Hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and designated laboratory tests with established competency.
• Performs routine QC and QA tasks, resolves problems, and supports Quality Management initiatives.
• Operates, maintains and troubleshoots complex instruments; maintains lab records and LIS terminals.
• May act as group leader on weekends/holidays as designated by supervisor.
• Manages infectious specimens, radioactive material, hazardous chemicals and potentially dangerous instruments safely.
• Demonstrates continuous learning in clinical laboratory principles through continuing education.
• Assists in specimen processing and ensures add-on specimens are tested within TAT.
