Job summary

Cornerstone Caregiving in San Diego is seeking a Weekend Overnight Dementia Caregiver to provide one-on-one companionship, bedside supervision, and safety monitoring for a female senior in a memory care facility. The role focuses on overnight care, reassurance, and responding to needs while she rests.

The ideal candidate remains calm during dementia-related confusion, can redirect gently, and stays awake and attentive throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of caregiving experience preferred.
• Dementia or Alzheimer's experience highly preferred.
• Overnight caregiving or bedside sitter experience preferred.
• Experience with wandering and exit-seeking behaviors.
• Ability to remain awake and responsive throughout the shift.
• Reliable weekend overnight availability.
• Pass a background check.
• California HCA registration or willingness to obtain.
• Required TB clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one overnight bedside supervision.
• Remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the shift.
• Monitor for confusion, restlessness, and exit-seeking behaviors.
• Use gentle redirection and calming reassurance when the client attempts to leave.
• Help maintain a peaceful nighttime environment.
• Assist with bathroom visits and toileting as needed.
• Help the client return comfortably to bed after nighttime waking.
• Respond promptly to changes in behavior or condition.
• Coordinate with facility staff when additional assistance is needed.
• Document care provided and report important observations.
