Job summary

Cornerstone Caregiving in San Diego, CA is seeking a Morning Dementia Caregiver to provide personalized companionship, morning routines, and safety supervision for a female client in a memory care facility.

The role focuses on gentle redirection, engaging in daily activities, and communicating concerns to staff. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with pay of $18-$20 per hour, and paid orientation and training.

Qualifications

• 1 year caregiving experience preferred.
• Dementia or memory care experience highly preferred.
• Experience with gentle redirection and behavioral support.
• California HCA registration or willingness to obtain.
• Required TB clearance and background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with morning routines, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Encourage participation in breakfast, lunch and facility activities.
• Provide meaningful companionship and conversation.
• Engage the client in hobbies and recreational activities.
• Offer gentle redirection when the client becomes confused or attempts to leave.
• Use calm communication to reduce anxiety and agitation.
• Accompany the client on walks within approved areas.
• Assist with toileting and incontinence care as needed.
• Encourage social interaction and daily engagement.
• Communicate concerns and behavioral changes to facility staff.

Are you a positive, energetic, and compassionate caregiver who enjoys helping seniors start their day? Cornerstone Caregiving is seeking an experienced Morning Dementia Caregiver to provide personalized companionship, daily routine assistance, and safety supervision for a female senior living in a memory care facility. Our client needs someone who can encourage participation in daily activities while providing reassurance and gentle redirection when she becomes confused or attempts to leave the facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist with morning routines, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene
• Encourage participation in breakfast, lunch and facility activities
• Provide meaningful companionship and conversation
• Engage the client in appropriate hobbies and recreational activities
• Offer gentle redirection when the client becomes confused or attempts to leave
• Use calm communication to reduce anxiety and agitation
• Accompany the client on walks within approved areas

Ideal Caregiver

We're looking for someone who is energetic, friendly, proactive, patient, and experienced in dementia care. The ideal caregiver enjoys keeping seniors engaged and knows how to create a positive daily routine while remaining attentive to safety. You should be comfortable responding calmly when the client becomes restless, anxious, or confused.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of caregiving experience preferred
• Dementia or memory care experience highly preferred
• Experience with gentle redirection and behavioral support
• Comfortable assisting with morning personal care
• Positive, engaging, and dependable
• Reliable Monday-Friday availability
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to pass a background check
• California HCA registration or willingness to obtain
• Required TB clearance
