Job summary

Cust-O-Fab in Sand Springs, OK, is seeking Class C Welders to join our manufacturing team. You will cut, fit, and tack weld components for heat exchangers, vessels, and towers, following safety procedures and quality standards.

The role requires at least five years of welding pressure vessels or heat exchangers, proficiency in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW and SAW, and the ability to read prints and WPS/PQR. Candidates must maintain a clean workstation and meet production timelines.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience welding pressure vessels or heat exchanger components.
• Extensive knowledge of welding processes SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW & SAW.
• Ability to pass a weld qualification for each process.
• Ability to read prints for required specifications and dimensions.
• Ability to weld within the parameters of a WPS/PQR.

Responsibilities

• Wear proper PPE at all times on shop floor and follow safety protocols and procedures.
• Read blueprints and weld procedures to ensure all welds are completed to required specifications.
• Set up welding equipment, prepare materials and maintain a clean workstation to ensure proper welding.
• Perform weld processes to fabricate or repair shell & tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and/or towers while maintaining less than a 5% x-ray repair rate.
• Work with QC personnel to ensure quality is maintained on all welds.
• Complete assigned work within given time frame and according to specifications.
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned, which may include performing basic tasks when such a need arises.

Class C Welders are required to be safety minded, highly productive experts who can cut, fit, and tack weld all parts of heat exchangers, vessels, and towers.

• Extensive knowledge of welding with SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW & SAW thermal processes in the manufacturing of various types of pressure vessels and heat exchangers
• Ability to pass a weld qualification for each process
• Ability to read prints for both required specifications as well as dimensions
• Ability to weld within the parameters of a WPS/PQR
• Ability to be proficient in arc gouging process
• Ability to be a self-motivated and highly productive employee who requires minimal supervision and who can efficiently execute a plan to make jobs happen on time within the hours given
• Ability to be a team player who can work well with others to achieve company goals
• Ability to consistently maintain less than a 5% X-Ray repair rate
• Ability to be efficient at fixing X-Ray and UT repairs
• Ability to recognize and rectify sub-standard welds to ensure product quality
• Ability to be punctual and dependent with a willingness to work hours outside of a standard schedule when required to achieve a task or complete a project

Physical requirements

This position will be exposed to welding fumes and gases, and dust from grinder: use of PPE imperative. Work area is not climate controlled so extreme heat/cold may be experienced.
