Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Shift Supervisor RN to support patient-centered care on weekends and nights. The role acts as patient care nurse and charge nurse, guiding staff and modeling clinical leadership.

You will ensure quality, safety, and effective handoffs, participate in staff orientation, monitor performance, and help manage staffing and resources. Requires BSN preferred, Iowa RN license, BLS, and 2 years clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Two years clinical experience preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• Current RN license (Iowa or compact state) required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Mandatory reporting training for Iowa abuse.

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurate information at handoffs to ensure patient outcomes.
• Provide high quality, safe patient care using evidence-based practice.
• Assist with staffing and participate in department meetings.
• Mentor staff and model collaboration and respect.
• Observe performance and contribute to annual appraisals.
