Job summary

Alabama Clinical Schools is seeking a Mental Health Associate for the weekend shift at the Bessemer Group Home. The role involves direct care to residents with psychiatric disorders, ensuring safety, assisting with daily activities, and facilitating groups under supervision.

Qualifications include a 19+ age minimum, drug screen and background check, and a preference for degrees in psychology, social work, education, or related fields. Weekend hours are 7pm–7am.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Associates degree in psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or related mental health field preferred, but not required.
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
• Able to safely monitor residents and perform physical management techniques and crisis intervention.
• Experience in a residential mental/behavioral health setting strongly preferred.
• Must be 19 years or older and pass drug screen and background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to residents with psychiatric disorders to ensure safety and well-being.
• Assist with daily activities and facilitation of groups as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain documentation and support crisis intervention as needed.
• Contribute to a therapeutic environment and collaborate with shift leadership.
