Job summary

Telecare Corporation is hiring a part-time Medical Records Technician for the Santa Cruz Mental Health program, weekends only. The role focuses on maintaining and processing medical records and EHR data, with strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and HIPAA.

The position requires RHIT/RHIA or related certificate, 1–3 years of EHR experience in psychiatric settings, and ability to interact effectively with clients, staff and external parties.

Qualifications

• One year of EHR/health information system experience in a psychiatric setting.
• Credentialed RHIT or RHIA through AHIMA.
• Two years of EHR experience in similar settings.
• Completion of an approved Health Information/Medical Record Certificate Program.
• Three years of EHR or paper record management in outpatient/community settings.
• Working knowledge of a hybrid medical record system.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, PHI and health information.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 CM and DSMV.
• Understanding of local/state/federal regulations and accreditation standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
• Must be 18+ and able to obtain clearances.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, store and process medical records and EHR data.
• Assemble, analyze, release information, data processing and reporting.
• Prepare reports in line with regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Interact with clients, family, public, physicians and staff.
