Powell is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to assemble Switchgear units per blueprints and instructions. You will repair discrepancies, promote safety, and maintain clean work areas while following standard work to ensure quality and ISO compliance.

The role requires basic English, a high school diploma, and prior manufacturing exposure. The environment is temperature-controlled with safety PPE and ladders as part of daily tasks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: high school diploma required.
  • Read blueprints, work instructions and diagrams to assemble parts.
  • Read a tape measure in fractional, decimal and metric units.
  • Ability to read and follow MES data and standard work instructions.
  • Experience in switchgear assembly is a plus.

Weekday and Weekend Shift Available!Weekend Shift: Friday-Sunday 6:00am-6:30pmWeekly pay, and full benefits day one!Job Description:A Mechanical Assembler is responsible for putting together components or parts to create finished products. They follow blueprints, work instructions, or diagrams to assemble products using various tools and equipment. Assemblers may work in manufacturing or production environments and may be required to perform quality checks and ensure that products meet specifications. They may also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area and reporting any issues or defects to supervisors. Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work as part of a team are important skills for an Assembler.Essential Responsibilities.Assemble Switchgear units as per blueprints and instructions.Repair identified discrepancies with Switchgear units.Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings.Ensures quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized.Other duties as required.Core CompetenciesWillingly accepts constructive feedback.Effectively demonstrates on-time delivery and the ability to stay focused on goals and responsibilities.Self-starter with ability to take on multiple tasks with a drive to succeed.Challenges the status quo; looks for better or more efficient ways to get results.Ability to adapt to new ideas, technology, processes or product changes.Believes and displays through actions that our customers represent our current success and remain vital to our future growth.Demonstrates integrity and ethical decision making.Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks.Able to work effectively within your team and around other departments and their activities.Ability to learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure adherence to ISO requirements.Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.Job RequirementsQualificationsMinimum education level of a High School Diploma is required.Minimum 0-3 years’ of experience in a manufacturing environment.Previous experience in Switchgear units is considered an asset.Ability to read a tape measure (including conversions from fraction to decimal and conversely from decimal to fraction and metric to imperial).Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, use, repair and maintenance.Basic working knowledge of MES (Manufacturing and Execution System).Safety training certificates are an asset for the position.Working and Environmental ConditionsWorking ConditionsSafety sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (i.e., safety shoes, hard hats, bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.Must be able to work from all types of ladders (step ladders, \"A\" frame ladders, etc.)Working at heights usually no higher than 20 feet in the air on an elevated structure using proper lift equipment and Fall Protection Equipment.Physical RequirementsAble to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs or step laddersBending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any directionContinuous standing and walkingAble to use upper extremities frequently, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.Must be able to meet physical lifting demand up to 50lbs.Frequent use of hand tools and power tools*Not eligible for relocation or sponsorship.About UsIn our 70+ year history, Powell has always known that our employees are at the heart of our success.
