Job summary

Powell is seeking a Lead Switchgear Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team in a safety-focused, 5S environment. You will assemble switchgear and breaker units, conduct in-process inspections, mentor peers, and drive root cause analysis when changes arise.

You will interpret complex drawings, track part availability, and coordinate with QA/QC for release. This role requires strength for lifting up to 50 lbs and adherence to ISO policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 4+ years of manufacturing experience in a job-shop or similar setting.
• Proficient with tape measure use and conversions (fraction ⇄ decimal; metric ⇄ imperial).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Experience tracing parts and changes using ERP/MES systems.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components for power distribution switchgear and breaker units per drawings and customer requirements.
• Perform in-process inspections and document discrepancies; lead ship-prep activities.
• Mentor newer teammates and assist with team training; ensure 5S organization.
• Investigate engineering changes with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Identify part shortages and coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve constraints.

Lead Switchgear Mechanical Assembly TechnicianSchedules: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. | Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.Compensation & Perks: Weekly pay and full benefits starting day one.A day in this roleYou arrive to a clean, organized, and safety-focused shop. After the morning safety huddle, you review engineering prints and customer specs for the day’s switchgear and breaker builds. You lead ship-prep activities, mentor newer teammates, and keep a close eye on part availability. Throughout the day you perform in-process checks, make precise mechanical adjustments, document any discrepancies (including writing HFDs when needed), and coordinate ship-loose items with QA/QC.
