Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Whitehall, MI is seeking a weekend shift Maintenance Supervisor to lead Plant 4 Thermatech maintenance activities.

You will oversee preventative maintenance programs, oversee repairs, coordinate with engineering and outside contractors, and ensure safe, reliable operation of equipment and facilities. The role requires at least 3 years of leadership in maintenance, ability to read blueprints, and strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3 years leadership experience supervising maintenance/skilled trades teams
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Ability to read blueprints
• Experience with TPM, Synchronous Mfg, and Kaizen Concepts.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, have good team building skills, excellent people skills; ability to handle multiple tasks, technically oriented.
• Must be energetic and a self-starter, able to promote and implement change, have good PC skills, good telephone skills, strong organizational skills, and ability to promote a continuous improvement atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Supervises maintenance team; plans, holds performance appraisals, staffing, vacations, overtime, and leaves; prioritizes work assignments.
• Provides effective feedback to employees and maintains documentation for disciplinary actions.
• Directs training and orientation to ensure EHS rules are understood and policies followed.
• Maintains compliance with the collective bargaining agreement and interfaces with union officials; handles grievances.
• Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and practices.
• Reviews production and operating reports and resolves issues to minimize costs and prevent delays.
• Inspects machines and equipment for operational performance and optimum utilization.
• Promotes EHS and continuous improvement culture.
