Job summary

The Bristal Assisted Living in Bethpage, NY seeks a responsible Kitchen Utility Worker/Dishwasher to support the busy kitchen team in a luxury assisted living community. The role includes cleaning, prepping and washing dishware, maintaining sanitation, and assisting with dining service while weekend shifts are required.

Ideal candidates have prior experience in busy kitchens, can operate in a fast-paced environment, and are able to lift heavy items.

Qualifications

• Experience in busy kitchen or food preparation area preferred.
• Experience in restaurant, catering, hospital, hospitality or healthcare environments is a plus.
• Able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability for strenuous cleaning and lifting.
• Must understand English and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• Must follow all rules, policies, and sanitary standards.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning, prepping and washing dishware, silverware, glassware, pots and pans.
• Ensuring chemical dispensers and cleaning supplies are adequate and safety equipment is used.
• Sweeping and mopping floors as directed.
• Emptying and cleaning garbage from kitchen to dumpster.
• Assisting with heavy lifting.
• Daily cleaning of steam kettle, grill, range tops, brazier, stainless steel surfaces, dish racks, dish storage areas, dishwasher and dishwashing area.
• Monthly cleaning of all kitchen surfaces, including walls, ceilings, stairs, tables, table legs and appliances.
• Assisting in the dining room, removing soiled dishes during meal service and returning them to the kitchen.
