Job summary

The Bristal in Bethpage, NY is seeking a responsible Kitchen Utility Worker/Dishwasher to support our busy kitchen in a luxury assisted living community. You will perform cleaning, washing, and maintenance tasks, work in a fast-paced environment, and help with heavy lifting and safe handling of kitchen equipment.

This is an entry-level position with weekend shifts included and opportunities to grow in food service.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy kitchen or food preparation area.
• Experience in restaurant, catering, hospital, hospitality or healthcare food service is a plus.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability for strenuous cleaning and lifting.
• Ability to understand English and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to following safety and sanitary standards.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning, prepping and washing dishware, silverware, glassware, pots and pans.
• Ensuring all chemical dispensers are working and cleaning supplies are adequate, being careful to use all safety equipment to meet OSHA standards.
• Sweeping and mopping floors as directed.
• Emptying and cleaning garbage from kitchen to dumpster.
• Assisting with heavy lifting.
• Daily cleaning of steam kettle, grill, range tops, brazier, stainless steel surfaces, dish racks, dish storage areas, dishwasher and dishwashing area.
• Monthly cleaning of all kitchen surfaces, including walls, ceilings, stairs, tables, table legs and appliances.
• Assisting in the dining room, removing soiled dishes during meal service and returning them to the kitchen.
