Job summary

A leading food processing company in Wisconsin is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician. In this role, you will handle the repair and maintenance of complex electrical and process control systems. The ideal candidate should have a technical college background or at least three years of relevant experience. Responsibilities also include preventive maintenance and installation of instrumentation in a high-condition environment. A strong emphasis on safety and effective communication is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience in programming and troubleshooting variable frequency drives.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain electrical and process control systems.
  • Install, repair, and calibrate instrumentation.

Job description

As an instrumentation technician, you will test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices. You'll also perform general maintenance on the equipment and design new measuring and recording equipment.

Schedule:

Friday-Monday / 5am-3:30pm

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintenance of electrical and process control systems for a highly automated food processing facility, to operate in the safest and most productive condition, supporting continuous improvement and reliability of equipment and building systems
  • Possess the ability to troubleshooting 480 systems
  • Installation, repair, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation used in process controls, analyzing systems, valves/actuators, and other pneumatically controlled devices
  • Determines causes for malfunctioning instruments and takes appropriate action to improve system reliability
  • Variable frequency drive programming and troubleshooting
  • Reads and interprets electrical blueprints, schematics, P&ID and loop drawings
  • Performs preventive maintenance on instrumentation & electrical equipment
  • Working as part of a team but would routinely perform work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties
  • Assists in the implementation and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for equipment and facilities
  • Generate and maintain written procedures for maintenance tasks
  • Follows all applicable good manufacturing practices (GMP's).
  • Executes and documents planned and unplanned work via maintenance management system
  • Leverages methodologies like root cause analysis to identify and resolve equipment issues
  • Assists in the maintenance of parts inventory
  • Plan maintenance work with operations, contractors, and other plant staff
  • “Call in” duties as requested by Maintenance supervision
  • Other duties as assigned
Education & Training
  • Some technical college preferred or 3+ years of experience
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Highly detail oriented
  • Understanding and knowledge of mechanics or electrical
  • Experience with Fallen Bradley PLC, HMI, VFD’s and related components
Physical & Behavioral
  • Frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
  • Frequently required to reach above shoulders, climb, work at heights, crouch, stoop or kneel
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds usually from floor to waist level, and able to lift 25 pounds repetitively at or above shoulder height
  • Ability to work under conditions of high temperature and high humidity for extended periods of time
