Job summary

Webb County is seeking a Court Appointment Clerk to interview indigent individuals in custody during weekend magistrate proceedings and to coordinate court-appointed attorneys.

You will process front-end court appointments, determine eligibility, prepare Orders of Indigency, and route papers to magistrate, attorneys, and pretrial services. The role also requires interviews and Odyssey filing for post‑trial documentation.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Must have at least two (2) years of work experience in the judiciary field.

Responsibilities

• Process front-end court appointments of attorneys for the Magistrate Court.
• Determine the appropriate documents to present to the Magistrate to facilitate the arrested person’s appearance before the Magistrate and determine eligibility for a court-appointed attorney.
• Answer questions in person, by email, and by telephone regarding indigent individuals in custody.
• Prepare and route appropriate Orders of Indigency and court appointments to the Magistrate, appointed attorneys, and pretrial services.
• Manage and monitor the Magistrate's court appointment list of attorneys.
• Performs related duties as required.
• Conduct face-to-face interviews with inmates to determine eligibility for court-appointed attorney representation.
• Electronically file documents in Odyssey after court proceedings.
