Job summary

Hospice of Huntington is seeking a Weekend On-Call RN Runner to support patient care needs in Huntington, WV. The role involves responding to calls, performing home visits, assessing patients, and planning interventions with the interdisciplinary team.

Licensed RNs in WV and OH with a BSN preferred and 2+ years of RN experience (home health or hospice preferred) are encouraged to apply. Must have liability insurance and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Licensed registered nurse in West Virginia and Ohio.
• Minimum of 2 years registered nursing experience; home health or hospice nursing preferred.
• Proof of liability insurance.
• Current driver\'s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Philosophy compatible with the hospice concept.

Responsibilities

• Remain available during assigned shifts to receive telephone calls from the Triage Nurse.
• Be able to respond to all calls within 20 minutes.
• Make home visits as directed by the Triage Nurse.
• Perform assessment of patients visited and derive nursing diagnosis based on assessment data.
• Assess the need for hospice aide services.
• Assess and provide pain management strategies to assist with the patient\'s comfort.
• Plan nursing interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to resolve current problems or prevent potential problems.
• Provide teaching to patients/families to assist in the patients comfort as needed.
• Provide emotional support to patients/families in a manner that fosters independence and affirms existing strengths.
• Promote working in a team environment.
• Comply with policies and procedures of Hospice of Huntington, Inc.
