Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC) in Ogden, Utah, is seeking a grinder/inspection technician for graveyard weekend shifts. You will review inspection paperwork and blueprints, grind and blend castings to blueprint tolerances, and verify dimensions with micrometers and calipers.

Training on day shift precedes the regular 36-hour weekend schedule with pay for 40 hours. You will perform fluorescent penetrant inspections, maintain logs, and may train other grinders while adhering to safety rules and

Qualifications

Requires ability to review inspection paperwork and blueprints to determine grinding requirements.
Must be able to verify dimensional tolerances using micrometers and calipers.
Experience with nondestructive testing and surface finishing processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

Review x-ray/inspection paperwork, sketches and blueprints.
Remove surface and blind cavity defects from castings using rotary files and belts.
Blend repaired areas to specified tolerances; may use hand-held sandblaster.
Verify dimensional compliance with measuring devices.
Perform fluorescent penetrant inspections to verify defect removal.
Provide work direction and training to other grinders as assigned.
