Job summary

Bobrick is seeking an operator to run deburring machinery and support material handling. Under close supervision, you will ensure safety, quality, and productivity, while upgrading skills as technology evolves.

You will follow instructions, set up equipment, and contribute to process improvements. The role requires basic shop safety knowledge, a high school diploma, and the ability to read and interpret manuals and safety rules. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Self-Balancing Flow manufacturing knowledge or experience is a plus.
• Good knowledge of shop and safety practices is essential.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate deburring machinery and perform material handling under supervision.
• Follow instructions to set up equipment and ensure quality meets Bobrick standards.
• Inspect and verify quality and quantity of work performed; contribute to problem solving.
• Select and set up air-operated hand tools and fixtures on the workbench.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and follow safe operating procedures.
• Perform weekly pre-use inspections and stack finished goods on skids.
• Operate 221 cell press, welder, and cartoner machines; assist with material handling.
• Strive for efficiency (90%+) and readiness to advance Grade level.

Job description

Summary

Under close supervision, is responsible for operation of deburring machinery and material handling. Must meet Bobrick standards of safety, product quality, productivity and policies. The individual needs to constantly upgrade their job skills in keeping with changing technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Understands the Four Level Defect Grading System and continually seeks out, reports and contributes to problem solving to correct or prevent quality defects and errors.


• Follows verbal instructions to ascertain equipment and set up required.


• Monitors and verify that the quality and quantity of work performed meets Bobrick standards.


• Select and sets up air operated hand tools and fixtures on work bench.


• Participates and recommends new and improved work methods for work performed.


• Assists with material handling operations.


• Performs part deburring utilizing automated equipment.


• Maintains the production process in a capable and aligned state and works to continuously improve.


• Maintain a healthy and safe environment by keeping the work area clean, materials positioned correctly and always following safe operating procedures.


• Performs weekly pre-use inspection checklist on equipment.


• Stacks completed product on skids.


• Demonstrates proficiency on support side presses and fladder


• Ability to operate 221 cell press, welder, and cartoner machines.


• Not required to perform setup tasks (Grade 5 module completion)


• Operator must operate efficiently (90% or higher) in order to move to next Grade level.

Schedule

Monday to Friday: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Overtime as required.

Education And/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Self-Balancing Flow manufacturing knowledge or experience an asset. Good knowledge of shop and safety practices is essential.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing, giving clear and concise messages.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers of common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
