Job summary

City of Ypsilanti is seeking a part-time Event Attendant to assist at City-owned parks and the Freighthouse. The role covers opening, monitoring, and securing the venue during weddings, festivals, and public/private events, with emphasis on guest service and safety.

The position is 10–30 hours per week, primarily on weekends, with flexible scheduling to meet seasonal demand. Responsibilities include enforcing policies, coordinating event layouts, and maintaining facility readiness.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality, catering, or event management preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and engage with the onsite point of contact during events.
• Interact professionally with coordinators, renters, vendors, guests, and the public.
• Complete pre- and post-event checklists to confirm facility readiness and inventory levels.
• Inventory tables and chairs; assist with event layouts and lighting.
• Secure the facility and respond to facility-related inquiries during events.
• Monitor restroom supplies, enforce policies, and ensure safety and accessibility during events.
• Assist with tours of the Freighthouse as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
