Job summary

MercyOne in Newton, IA is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Room team on a weekend shift. You will provide professional nursing care to a diverse patient population, including neonates to geriatrics, following the nursing process and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

As an ER RN, you will educate patients and families, ensure patient safety, and maintain confidentiality while upholding MercyOne's standards of compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN license from the State of Iowa.
• BCLS certification at the healthcare provider level required.
• ACLS and PALS certifications recommended.
• Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, interventions, and evaluation of patient status.
• Manage personalized care by promoting and restoring health, collaborating with providers and the multidisciplinary team, and offering physical and psychological support to patients and their families.
• Execute care plans as prescribed by providers, adhering to nursing practice guidelines and ensuring age-appropriate, culturally sensitive care.
• Educate patients on medication, procedures, and their care plans during hospitalization and post-discharge.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner, respecting patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.
• Perform and/or supervise activities requiring registered nurse expertise, seeking assistance when necessary.
• Provide leadership and direction in supervising others in delivering nursing care.
• Maintain current competencies by attending educational workshops and participating in departmental projects for process improvement.
• Adhere to the highest safety standards in all tasks.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
