Job summary

Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine seeks an experienced Veterinary Technician III to join the Emergency & Critical Care team as a Weekend Warrior. This part-time position offers two 13-hour weekend shifts, full Tufts benefits, and a weekend shift differential in a high-acuity setting.

The ECC Vet Tech III performs advanced nursing care under supervision, mentors students, and may train new technicians.

Qualifications

• CVT/LVT/RVT in good standing.
• AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of experience as a credentialed veterinary technician, preferably in emergency/critical care.
• Knowledge of emergency nursing, pharmacology, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care under supervision.
• Instruct veterinary students and technicians in technical skills.
• Mentor and train junior staff and technicians.
• Coordinate with clinicians to deliver timely patient care.
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
• Communicate treatment plans and discharge instructions to clients.
