Job summary

New England Homes for The Deaf, Inc. in Massachusetts is seeking a weekend Per Diem Point of Care cook assistant to provide meals for Deaf and Deafblind residents in our long-term care facility. You will assist with food preparation, setting tables, and dish sanitation to ensure safe, healthy meals.

You will work with nursing to review menus, ensure proper food temperatures, and maintain sanitary procedures. On-site ASL and Deaf culture classes are provided.

Qualifications

• Clear understanding of sanitary codes and food safety procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks as directed.
• Willingness to learn ASL and Deaf culture basics.
• Experience in long-term care food service is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review nursing menu for service.
• Check all foods and equipment temperature before service and after service.
• Prepare beverages and desserts as required.
• Plate presentation and tray assembly.
• Assist with serving and daily kitchen tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
