Job summary

Major Tool & Machine is hiring a Machinist for a weekend day shift in Indianapolis, IN. The role offers three 12-hour Friday–Sunday shifts, with 40 hours paid (36 hours worked). Salary ranges from $24 to $40 per hour, plus benefits and potential quarterly bonuses.

Candidates should have 2 years of trade school and 3–5 years CNC experience, with GD&T and blueprint reading skills. MTM provides a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth within the Precinmac network,

Qualifications

• Two years of trade school, vocational education or apprenticeship.
• Three to five years CNC machining experience.
• General machining knowledge, shop math, precision measuring instruments, blueprint reading and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, routing instructions, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
• Properly select, align and secure work holding. Must be able to improvise setups using common tooling such as risers, angle plates etc.
• Monitor and/or develop speed, feed, depth or angle of cut during machining operations.
• Observe machine operation to predict or detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining conditions and adjust machine controls.
• Verify that all machined details meet print and router specifications, using precision measuring instruments and recording data results.
• Monitor and maintain proper cleanliness of machine and work area on a daily basis.
