Job summary

Harboroaks is seeking a part-time weekend activity therapy professional to plan, direct and implement therapy activities as part of patient treatment plans. Responsibilities include assessments, leading sessions and ensuring safety and engagement in therapeutic recreation.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field, with two years of healthcare recreation experience and CPR/de-escalation certification. Master’s degree preferred; first aid may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Two or more years' experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served by the facility is required.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

• Complete activity assessment through patient observation and patient/family interview to develop and implement the treat plan.
• Plan, organize, direct and implement activities within the treatment program to facilitate patient progress.
• Plan and implement activities including therapeutic leisure skills, education and awareness.
• Facilitate and lead activity sessions to improve patient mental and physical well-being.
• Instruct patients in activities and techniques such as sports, dance, music, art or relaxation.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field
