Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with enthusiasm for working with seniors.
• Ability to plan, organize, and lead diverse activities and programs.
• Basic knowledge of therapeutic recreation practices is desirable.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Develop and organize activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities and needs. Facilitate recreational programs, arts and crafts, games, music, and social events to promote resident engagement and interaction.
• Build positive relationships with residents and their families to understand their preferences and encourage participation in activities. Support residents in participating in activities and provide assistance as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of resident participation and document outcomes of activities. Communicate with the healthcare team regarding resident interests and any observed changes in their well-being.
• Work closely with other team members, including nursing staff and therapists, to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to resident activities. Participate in staff meetings and contribute ideas for new programs and improvements.
• Ensure that all activities comply with facility policies and safety regulations. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for all residents and staff.
