Job summary

USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Memorial Village is seeking a dedicated RN PreOp to join our team. The role focuses on comprehensive preoperative assessments, patient education, and coordination with surgical teams in an ambulatory setting.

The position requires 1–3 years of PreOP/PACU experience, current RN license, and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications. Weekdays only with potential early mornings or late evenings based on scheduling needs.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
• 1–3 years of PreOP/PACU experience preferred.
• Ambulatory surgery center experience is a plus.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments including med history and vital signs.
• Review and verify patient documentation, consents, and labs.
• Administer preoperative medications and monitor responses.
• Educate patients and families about the surgical process and care.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and staff for smooth care transitions.
• Maintain infection control, safety and regulatory standards.
• Document all patient care in the EMR accurately and timely.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, efficient pre-op environment.
