Job summary

The Catering Captain is responsible for ensuring the proper execution of weddings and high-end social catered events. Work is performed under the general direction of the Facility Manager and Catering Chef, with some latitude for independent judgment.

Due to the service of alcohol, applicants must be at least 21 years of age or older. Pay rate is $28.00 per hour, with roles focusing on on-site supervision, coordination with kitchen and service staff, and maintaining health code compliance

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years catering banquet service and supervision.
• Strong working knowledge of food and beverage service.
• Ability to motivate staff and make quick decisions.
• Physical ability to lift 50lbs and perform tasks requiring bending and stooping.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper execution of catering proposals for weddings and high-end events.
• Provide on-site event supervision of facility and catering staff.
• Participate in pre-event meetings to review proposals, floorplans, timelines.
• Maintain facility cleanliness before and during events.
• Meet and greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Coordinate with the day-of contact on all event aspects.
• Direct set-up and breakdown of seating, decor, food and bar services.
• Ensure health code compliance and sanitation standards.
• Train and supervise bartenders, servers and dishwashers.
• Provide guidance and motivation to catering staff.
• Ensure staff arrives on time and in proper uniform/grooming.
• Maintain communication with kitchen, servers, and bartenders.
