Summary / Job Objective

The Web Designer is responsible for developing, coding and modifying Simplicity’s internal company websites, pages, programs and applications, as well as Consumer-facing websites for Agents, ensuring that all sites are optimized for speed and efficiency and are visually appealing, clear, and engaging.

Primary Responsibilities

• Create and maintain websites, including all aspects of the website layout, functionality, and user experience, using standard HTML/CSS practices/WordPress, meeting modern web standards
• Manage and maintain WordPress sites using WP Engine, including both single and multisite environments; handle tasks such as staging deployments, backups, performance optimization, and security monitoring
• Work closely with the marketing and design teams to match visual design with requests
• Maintain and expand/enhance the website once built, including all security measures
• Perform periodical tests and debugging to maximize speed and efficiency of all websites
• Suggest new features to improve program navigation and operation
• Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
• Stay up to date with industry developments
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
• Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
• Create and maintain software documentation
• Document project build and maintenance

Qualifications

• Proven work experience as a Web programmer or developer (3+ years preferred)
• Hands‑on experience with various programming languages, including PHP, ASP.NET, JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, and WordPress
• Proficient in modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular
• Strong knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3, including responsive design and CSS frameworks like Tailwind and Bootstrap
• Backend development experience with Node.js and Express
• Familiar with Python web frameworks such as Django and Flask
• Skilled in using and integrating RESTful APIs and GraphQL
• Comfortable working with TypeScript for scalable and maintainable code
• Experienced in version control using Git, GitHub, and GitLab
• Experience researching different software programs, maintaining software documentation
• Able to implement contingency plans in case the website goes down
• Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization
