Virginia Dept of Taxation (TAX) is seeking a Web Developer to support web application projects. This position involves working throughout the full lifecycle of system delivery, with a focus on the design, development, and deployment of high-quality applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in front-end technologies, particularly Angular or React, along with back-end experience in Java. The developer will collaborate closely with Business System Analysts, IT teams, and testing staff to ensure the successful implementation of system enhancements.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy web applications.
• Implement new features and enhancements.
• Conduct unit testing to ensure code quality.
• Review and contribute to technical designs.
• Ensure applications meet all functional specifications and performance requirements.

Required skills and experience

• 5 years of experience in
  • Angular Expertise: professional experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications using Angular or React
  • API Development: in building and consuming RESTful APIs (or equivalent experience in a language like Java/Spring Boo)
  • Database Proficiency: with SQL development, including writing complex queries and performing basic query optimization
  • Full Dev Lifecycle: Strong understanding of the complete software dev lifecycle (SDLC) and modern dev methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
  • Version Control: Proficiency with Git and modern version control workflows (e.g., branching, merging, pull requests)
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and debug application issues across the stack.
• 2 years of experience in
  • Minimum of 2 years of development experience in AWS
  • PostgreSQL experience is preferred
  • Prior Tax or Financial Technology work experience (Not required but highly desired)
