Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Web Developer for the College of Arts and Sciences Office of Technology Services on the Columbus campus. You will design, develop, and maintain Ruby on Rails and PHP web applications, coordinating with faculty and staff to identify needs and deliver solutions.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in computer & information science and at least two years of relevant experience, with strong SQL, Ruby on Rails, PHP, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in computer & information science or equivalent experience.
• Two years of relevant experience.
• Experience in project management, database design and development using SQL and MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Ruby and the Ruby on Rails framework, PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with users of varying backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement applications/web sites to specifications.
• Meet with Faculty and Staff to assess application needs.
• Maintain and troubleshoot ASC Ruby on Rails and PHP web applications.
• Monitor site and application performance; research, recommend and implement improvements.
• Ensure all ASC applications and web sites comply with regulatory and usability standards/requirements.
