Job summary

CALSTART is seeking a senior Web Developer to join the Marketing Web Team in Pasadena. You will build, maintain, and enhance CALSTART’s websites and web apps using WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring accessible and high-performance experiences.

You’ll work with design, IT, and program teams, implement integrations with REST APIs and CRM systems, and help launch the CALSTART.org rebuild while upholding security and accessibility standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in professional web development with WordPress.
• Strong HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, modern JS, and WordPress theme/plugins work.
• Experience with PHP, MySQL, REST APIs, third-party services, and Git workflows.
• Ability to apply WCAG 2.1+ accessibility and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance CALSTART websites, landing pages, and web apps using WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, JS, and MySQL.
• Independently manage CALSTART web properties, including maintenance, testing, deployments, and post-launch support.
• Build and modify WordPress themes, templates, blocks, plugins, and custom functionality.
• Translate designs into accessible, responsive experiences meeting WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
• Support website launches, migrations, and integrations, including CALSTART.org rebuild.
• Develop and maintain REST API integrations, forms, analytics, CRM, Salesforce, and other services.
• Collaborate with Senior Web Developer, Marketing, IT, programs, and external partners.
• Monitor performance, security, uptime, Core Web Vitals, and maintain technical docs.
