Base pay range

$75.00/hr - $82.00/hr

Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Developer with expertise in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Large Language Model (LLM) integration, specifically leveraging OpenAI APIs. This contract role is fully remote and open to candidates located in the United States. You'll help build intelligent document-processing workflows that extract, interpret, and generate insights from unstructured data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement OCR pipelines for extracting data from scanned or image-based documents.
• Integrate OCR output with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI’s GPT models) to classify, summarize, or extract structured insights.
• Build scalable APIs or microservices for document processing and AI-powered content handling.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define intelligent document workflows.
• Continuously optimize the accuracy and performance of OCR + LLM integration.
• Ensure data privacy, compliance, and best practices when working with sensitive content.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with OCR technologies (e.g., Tesseract, AWS Textract, Google Vision API, or similar).
• Proficient in Python or another backend language commonly used for AI integrations.
• Experience working with OpenAI’s API (or similar LLM platforms) for prompt engineering and content generation.
• Strong understanding of NLP concepts, text parsing, and data extraction workflows.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, asynchronous task management, and microservice architecture.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a remote team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in document automation or intelligent document processing (IDP).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Understanding of prompt tuning, embeddings, or vector search.
