Overview

Alera Group is looking for a Web Developer for our Indianapolis, IN office. Alera Group was founded in 2017 and has grown to become the 14th largest broker of US business. We are passionate about our clients’ success in the areas of Employee Benefits, Property and Casualty Insurance, Retirement Plan Services, and Wealth Services. With a network of offices nationwide, our commitment to collaboration allows us to offer national resources combined with local service.

Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Web Developer is an Exempt position responsible for developing and maintaining all Vital Incite web applications. This position focuses on enhancing and maintaining our web applications to answer client questions, reduce manual tasks, and develop or modify proprietary codesets to support Vital Incite’s products and user base.

Responsibilities
  • Web developer with extensive experience in coding and implementing web applications using the .Net framework, Visual Studio, and Microsoft SQL Server technologies
  • Demonstrated proficiency in development using Microsoft .Net technologies including C#, .Net Core, .Net framework 8 or later, MVC, and Entity Framework
  • Proven experience building . web applications using common frameworks and tools such as JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, and CSS
  • Skilled in developing web-based user interfaces using Telerik tools
  • Ability to implement and consume SOAP or REST services
  • Communicate progress, status, issues, and resolutions to team members and manager
  • Participate in various phases of the software development life cycle, including specifications, development, QA, delivery and bug fixes
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, delegate, and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Critical thinking skills to understand how to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Collaborate on and participate in executing the overall Technology Strategy, Plan, and product roadmap through collaboration, coordination, and communication with the IT and product teams
Qualifications
  • Education: Computer Science degree or equivalent skills of 5+ years of full‑time web development using Microsoft technologies and tools.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of development of web applications using C# with responsive modern web application design and frameworks including HTML5, MVC, Entity Framework, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery.
    • Experience with Visual Studio and the Microsoft stack including .Net Core, .Net 8 or higher.
    • Experience with Telerik tools, Git source control, and Azure preferred.
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server including T‑SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
    • Understanding of healthcare claims data preferred.

This job is remote, with periodic in‑office meetings. Seeking candidates within a 2‑hour radius of Indianapolis, IN. Salary range is $95K to 110K per year, depending on experience.
