Job summary

Serco is seeking a Web Designer to support Joint Staff J-7 training and exercises. You will design and maintain web-based information environments, translating operational needs into effective web solutions for exercise planners and senior leaders.

The role requires DoD Secret clearance, U.S. citizenship, and a bachelor’s degree or higher, with 5+ years of relevant experience (or 7+ with an associate degree). Travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active DoD Secret clearance with Top Secret/SCI eligibility.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• 5+ years relevant experience; or associate degree with 7+ years.
• Ability to obtain a valid U.S. passport.
• Strong knowledge of web-development principles, information architecture, accessibility, and user-focused design.
• Proficiency with Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
• Experience with social-media platforms for training scenarios.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and provide guidance to Government personnel.
• Willingness to travel 25% (CONUS/OCONUS).
• Experience supporting Joint Staff J-7 training events (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain web-based information environments supporting Joint Staff J-7 events.
• Serve as the Information Environment Designer during planning and execution.
• Coordinate with military customers and Joint Staff planners to identify requirements.
• Translate needs into design mock-ups and technical requirements.
• Interface with development teams to implement enhancements.
• Design environments that integrate training objectives and scenario content.
• Apply web-development principles and accessibility standards for usable experiences.
• Develop and maintain business rules for information-environment management.
• Provide user orientation, training, and desk-side support for information-environment capabilities.
• Develop user guides and quick-reference materials for information-use and content management.
• Coordinate with planners to ensure relevant and exploitable training opportunities.
• Provide oversight and quality-control for information entered by participants.
• Enter or facilitate entry of exercise content to keep information accurate and current.
• Participate in synchronization conferences and event-development activities.
• Provide on-site support during exercises for content updates and scenario changes.
• Track system and user-engagement metrics for effectiveness.
• Monitor web metrics and coordinate improvements with stakeholders.
• Support the use of web technologies to enhance realism and outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with Government cybersecurity and data-governance requirements.
• Travel within CONUS and OCONUS up to 25%.
